Only hours ago, China has landed a rover on the Moon.
This calls for two major points to be made.
First, if we told anybody 50 years ago that in 2013, the most advanced manned spacecraft will be the same Soyuz they know from TV, they’d ask if we’d been drinking.
Second, if we told the same person that in 2013, the only relevant space race will be between India and China, they would justifiably inquire about our mental health.
Yet, it is so. Perhaps our mental health is really worth a serious thought – dropping the ball like that is unjustifiable.
Perhaps this will be the impulse western countries need to resume paying proper attention to their space programs.
